Summer cocktails

Recently, I wrote about why drinking enough fluids and providing the body with refreshment during hot summer days is so important.

Today, I’d like to suggest two vacation cocktails – straight from a vacation trip!

SWEET & BITTER Cocktail

Ingredients:

  • 1 slice watermelon
  • ½ cup grapefruit juice
  • ½ cup water
  • ice, crushed

Preparation:

Squeeze the grapefruit juice into a large glass. Next, add watermelon pieces along with water. Then, blend together all the ingredients and add crushed ice. That’s all it takes.

I wrote about why I love watermelons last year.

Grapefruits are also worth loving, because they:

  • are low in calories
  • reduce the level of “bad” cholesterol
  • lower the blood pressure
  • contain beta-carotene
  • provide the body with B-group vitamins
  • contain potassium
  • are high in vitamin C
  • contain lycopene, and carotenoids which prevent atherosclerosis
  • help lose weight

There are more health beneficial ingredients to be found in red grapefruits. The larger and heavier the fruit, the juicier it is. Before using the fruit, scrub them to wash away them chemicals.

SOUR REFRESHMENT Cocktail

Ingredients:

  • 1 large cucumber
  • 1 lemon
  • handful of mint leaves
  • ½ cup water
  • ice, crushed

When combined, cucumber and mint exhibit fantastic refreshing properties.

Preparation:

First, peel the cucumber, cut the lemon in half, and add a bit of water along with the mint leaves. Next, blend all the ingredients together and add the crushed ice. And that’s it.
