KEEPING HERBS IN THE HOUSE

When I’m visiting my mom’s I’m always looking forward to using fresh herbs from her garden.

Spices that you can buy in grocery stores will never have that taste or aroma. They don’t have the taste of soil and sun – contrary to herbs that you can grow on your own.

Unfortunately, in my kind of lifestyle any gardening is impossible. But I strongly encourage everyone that spends more time at home – sow and plant. All you need is sunlight and your terrace can even turn into a herbs garden.

Good cuisine is based on herbs. And also good digestion depends on it! I’ve already written about thyme and cumin, I’ll definitely write more. Most of them can be at our fingertips – fresh, smelly and yummy.

The reason I write about it now is that this is the season for planting. If you prefer herbs from ready seedling, you’ll need to wait until May – you can buy them from gardeners then. Maybe you’ll plan how to turn your balcony green during Easter holidays? Such gardening doesn’t require a lot of money while the satisfaction is huge 🙂 It’s very nice to sit on your balcony in the evening, surrounded by herbs – they smell heavenly.

Basil, mint, thyme, marjoram, rosemary, parsley, dill, tarragon, savory, lovage – it’s a great deal of choice. When they’re grown and you decide to split them up – obviously you need to take care of them according to instructions, but it doesn’t require much effort. Those that are not used immediately may be frozen or dried so you can make use of them all year round 🙂

May your cultivation be effective!
